4 Excellent DIY Home Remedies for Dark Underarms

Dark Underarms

A dark underarm is not something one would want to proudly flaunt. That dark patch of skin underneath an otherwise light skinned arm would make it very hard for you to raise your hands in public. Worse, it would stop you from wearing or even thinking of buying sleeveless tops anymore. Luckily, there is no need to worry about dark underarms as there are plenty of ways you can treat them at home without using chemical based creams or lotions. These awesome DIY remedies would help lighten the skin underneath your arms effectively in a short span of time so that you can go back to being more confident about yourself.

Potatoes

Potatoes

Cut a potato in half and rub the fleshy part of it on the skin in the underarm area. Continue rubbing the area with the potato slice for about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can grate a potato, extract its juice and apply it all over the underarm area with the help of a cotton ball. In both cases, you would need to leave the potato juice/slice on the area for about 15 minutes and wash it off with warm water afterwards.

Lemons

Lemon

Cut a lemon in half and rub the juicy part of one half of the lemon in your underarm area before you head for a shower every day. This would help lighten up the dark patches in the area. Follow it up with some moisturizer after the shower as lemon can dry out the skin.

You can alternatively make a paste consisting of a tablespoon of lemon juice and honey, and a pinch of turmeric. Apply this paste on the underarm area and wait for about 15 minutes. Wash off the paste with lukewarm water afterwards.

Baking Soda

Baking Soda

Mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a tablespoon of water to form a thick paste. Apply this paste in the underarm area nicely.  Use a soft sponge to scrub the area nicely. After about 10 minutes, wash off the baking soda paste with warm water. Too pressed for time? Then simply mix baking soda in a glass of water and apply the resultant solution on your underarms with a cotton ball. In addition to lightening the area, this would prevent body odor as well.

Cucumbers

Cucumber

Cut a cucumber into thin slices and place them on the skin in the underarm area for about 15 minutes. You can also opt to rub a few slices of cucumber on the underarms to lighten them. Another DIY remedy involves grating a cucumber, extracting its juice and applying this juice in the underarm area for about 15 minutes before washing it off with warm water. A few days of this remedy and your dark underarms would cease to exist.
