It works in two way, firstly it is a calcium channel blocker and secondly it relaxes and widen the arteries to allow an easy flow of blood. Persons who are allergic to Amlodipine and benazepril should steer clear of this medication as both of these are active ingredients in this drug.Similarly pregnant women and breast feeding mothers should avoid it. Common side effects of this drug are chest pains, black outs, nausea, itching, fever, chill and rapid weight gain.

Methyldopa

Methyldopa is a preferred drug for controlling hypertension in the pregnant women. It works by widening the arteries and allows a smooth flow of blood. It is a mild medicine and known to be relatively safer for special cases like pregnancy.

In other people it might be given along with some other hypertension inhibitors. If consumed over a longer time, it may lose its efficacy to some extent.
