Dead skin builds up on your foot, making it dry and rough. The thick hardened layer of dead skin is usually associated with insufficient sebum secretion. 1. Pumice Stone

Pumice stone is a piece of volcanic rock used for removing dead skin from the feet. It is usually available in the local drug store. Soak your feet in warm water for several minutes until the skin softens. Rub your feet with the pumice stone to slough off the dead skin. Don’t rub too hard or for too long. Excessive removal of dead skin will make the area sensitive and painful. After removing the dead skin, moisturize the feet with moisturizing lotion (1).

Fill a tub with ankle-high hot water. Dissolve a cup of salt and soak your feet in the warm salt water for 15 minutes. Pat your feet dry. Now rub damp salt on each foot for three to five minutes. 3. Oatmeal And Cornmeal

Oatmeal and cornmeal work great in removing the dead skin from the feet. Mix one-fourth of a cup of oatmeal with equal amount of cornmeal and coarse salt. Add ¼ cup unscented body lotion and two tablespoons of aloe vera gel. Mix the ingredients well. Rub a generous amount of the mixture on each foot. Rinse off with lukewarm water (3).

Sugar is a gentle exfoliant. Scrubbing the feet with sugar gently removes the dead skin and softens the area. To make a sugar based scrub, you will need one-fourth of a cup of brown sugar, one cup of coconut oil, two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and a tablespoon of turmeric powder. Rub your feet with a generous amount of the mixture. Scrub daily, preferably twice a day to exfoliate the dead skin (4).

Baking soda is a good abrasive that you can use to get rid of the dead skin from your feet. Make a thick paste by mixing baking soda with a small amount of water. Rub the paste on your feet. Rinse off the paste with lukewarm water and pat the feet dry with a soft towel (5).

A mixture of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice when applied to the feet helps in softening the dead skin so that it easily falls off from the feet. It even helps in softening and removing stubborn calluses. To a basin filled with ankle-high warm water add a cup of apple cider vinegar and the juice of a lemon. Soak your feet for about fifteen minutes. Rub your feet with pumice stone. Rinse with warm water and pat the feet dry (6).

7. Apricot Seeds

Scrub your feet with ground apricot seeds to remove the hardened dead skin. Make an exfoliating foot scrub my mixing one ounce of finely ground apricot seeds with one ounce each of sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil and beeswax, 12 oz warm water and few drops of peppermint essential oil. Use a double boiler to melt the wax and blend it with the oils. Remove the melted wax and oil mixture from the heat and add the warm water and mix well. When the mixture has cooled down slightly, add the ground apricot seeds and the essential oil and mix well. Rub the mixture on your feet. Leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse (7).
