Effective Herbs For Phlegm

Phlegm (throat mucus) is irritating and very uncomfortable. This situation occurs when mucus chokes your throat resulting in a runny nose. This can be due to cold, allergy, post nasal drip, viral infection, flu, sinusitis, excessive smoking, etc. and can cause complications like headache, irritation, fever, etc. at early stage.

Couch grass is an excellent antibacterial and diuretic herb which soothes sore throat and loosens mucus. You can boil two teaspoons of dried powdered couch grass roots with two cups of water for 4-5 minutes and sip 2-3 times a day as a herbal tea.

Hyssop

Hyssop is an amazing antiviral and antibacterial herb and used as an expectorant since ancient times to treat all kinds of respiratory problems. Intake of hyssop control germs and bacteria causing infection and loosens phlegm to flush it out of body. Pregnant ladies and nursing mothers should avoid this herb as it contains ketones (pino-camphone).
