Bulimia is also known as bulimia nervosa. It is characterized by bouts of excessive eating that too secretly so that nobody can observe the binge. This episode is then followed by excessive guilt and an unconquerable fear of weight gain which leads to inappropriate method of losing weight by self induced vomiting or by abuse of laxatives, diuretics and exercise. This psychological disorder affects those who follow a very strict and out of control dieting regime.
These episodes of overeating and purging quickly become an obsession which harms the body and the health. Binge eating is not related to hunger, it is rather a response to severe depression, acute stress and an over anxiousness towards the body weight or body shape.

Legumes
Legumes are very high in key nutrients and low in calories. They are also rich in dietary fiber and eating just one cup of kidney beans or black eyed beans gives a sense of satiety and fullness.They also provide the body with strength and vigor and keep it in an active state. Eat on cup of cooked legumes twice daily with your meals.
Salads
Cut and chop fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, cabbage, tomatoes and onions. Mix them well in a large bowl and sprinkle the juice of one lemon and some salt and pepper onto it. Mix well and eat one bowl of these mixed vegetables just before your meal.This salad besides providing vital nutrients and energy to the body will quickly fill the stomach and placate the hunger without increasing the calorie intake.
Sprouts
Sprouts are the healthiest of all foods. They are a superb source of vital nutrients and have vast healing and antioxidant properties. Soak one cup of whole green moong in some water overnight. In the morning drain the water using a sieve.
Place the sieve on a pan and cover it with a plate. Keep for more than twenty four hours until you see the tender shoots sprouting. When the shoots are quite long then you can use the sprouts for eating. Just sprinkle some lemon juice and salt and pepper and eat a bowl of them everyday.
Buttermilk
A glass of fresh buttermilk offers great comfort and satiation. Buttermilk contains no fat, just a few calories and is very high in nutrition. Churn some homemade curd till the butter floats on the top. Remove the butter and use the buttermilk for drinking. Drink three or four glasses daily. It will keep the stomach well filled and will also promote a sense of well being.

Whenever the urge to eat gets out of control it is always a good idea to drink a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice. It will nourish the body and calm the agitated mind as well as give a sense of fullness.
