Occurrence of constipation in toddlers is a common thing. A child suffering from constipation may have bowel movements less than 4 times a week or have difficulty in passing stool or pass hard stool. This is primarily due to the change of eating habits as the toddlers digestive system needs time to adjust to the change of the food habits from liquid to solid.
Toilet training may lead to constipation because the child may at first be uncomfortable using the toilet and hold back the feces giving rise to constipation. Illness or emotional stress may also be the cause. Home treatments are mostly effective in normal cases of toddler constipation.
