Dry eyes refer to the dryness of the eyes. It occurs due to lack of lubrication of the eyes. It is caused because of insufficient production of tears and also due to harsh climatic conditions.

Tea Bags

Tea has antioxidant properties which help to hydrate the eyes. Take a cup of hot water and soak 2-3 tea bags for a few minutes. Then put two cotton balls in the cup and let it soak the tea. Allow the tea to get warm. Then put the warm cotton balls over each eyelids and leave for a few minutes.Then put the tea bags over closed dry eyes for 5 minutes. Black tea is preferable for this method.Chamomile tea also helps to cure dry and sore eyes. Take a cup of chamomile tea and soak it in warm water. Let it cool and then use it to wash your eyes.

Almond oil and castor oil

Both almond oil and castor oil makes moisture and prevents excessive evaporation. Apply these oils under your eyes before going to bed at night. Applying it during the day time may blur your vision.

Lavender Oil

Take a bowl of warm water and add 2-3 drops of lavender oil in it. Dip 2 cotton balls in this mixture.Then squeeze out the excess mixture from the cotton balls and place them on closed eyes. It helps to regain the lost moisture and oil to treat dry eyes.

Cucumber

Cucumber is one the simplest an easiest way to cure dry eyes. Cut slice of fresh cucumber and let it cool for sometime in the refrigerator. Then place the slices on closed eyes and leave for at least 20 minutes. Cucumber helps to stimulate moisture and also relaxes the tired eyes.

Soak some tamarind seeds in warm water. Then strain it. Use the extracts around the eyes fro fast relief.

Soak a clean cloth or towel in warm water. Remove the excess water from the cloth and place it over your closed eyes. Leave for about 5-10 minutes. It opens the clogged oil glands which help to restore moisture in the eyes.

Lemon juice

Prepare a paste by mixing lemon juice with tomato crush or tomato puree, orange lentil flour (masoor dal) and turmeric powder.Apply the paste under the eyes for effective results. If you are allergic to turmeric, then use tamarind powder instead of turmeric powder.

Grate some potato and place it on the eyes before going to bed at night. Potatoes provide cooling effect which helps to hydrate the eyes and hence provides relief from dry eyes.

Coriander Leaves

Grind some coriander leaves and extract juice out of it. Use this juice as an eye drop at least twice a day. It provides relief from itchy and gritty eyes.

Aloe Vera

Extract some aloe vera juice from the leaves and freeze it. Mix the aloe vera juice with little cold water. Soak two cotton balls in the mixture and place over closed eyes for relief.
