Bed wetting is medically known as nocturnal enuresis and is not considered as a disorder or a disease. It is rather a symptom that may be indicative of a certain problem. Useful Herbal Remedies For Bed Wetting
Buchu
Buchu is considered a useful herb when it comes to treating bedwetting because it cures the underlying problem responsible for the condition. Bed wetting could be caused by bladder infection, enlarged prostate, diabetes or because of incomplete digestion of food. Buchu treats these problems by regulating normal functioning of the kidneys and the bladder. The leaves of buchu should be steeped in hot water (and not boiled) and then consumed in form of tea. Drink three cups of buchu tea daily to have better control over your bladder movements.
St John’s Wort
St John’s wort can be used for treating bed wetting problem in both adults and in children. The herb is especially beneficial in cases where the problem is due to stress and depression. When taken in tincture form the herb helps control bladder movements thereby relieving the problem of bed wetting. Children should be given 20 drops of the herbal tincture two times during the day. Adults should take St John’s supplements as per the doctor’s direction.
Cornsilk
The silken thread found on the covering of corn kernels are called cornsilk and while most of us discard them, they are packed with healthy nutrients that are beneficial in treating kidney and bladder problems. Drinking three cups of cornsilk tea is known to treat urinary tract infection along with the problem of bed wetting. Prepare the tea by boiling cornsilk in a cup of water for 20 minutes. Strain and drink the herbal concoction by mixing it with some honey for flavour. Continue the treatment for a month at least.
Horsetail
Horsetail is a medicinal herb that has been widely used for the many benefits it has on our health. California Poppy
California poppy has proven to be very useful for treating bed wetting problems in young children because of its negligible side effects. The herb is safe for use and can be given to children as young as three years old. Consumption of the herb relaxes the nerves and makes the brain more aware of the signals that it receives from the nerves of the bladder. This obviously means frequent trips to the bathroom but decreased episodes of bed wetting. Give 20-40 mg of the herbal supplement daily to control bed wetting in children.
