All these are light on the stomach because they can be digested easily.
Gruel
Gruel made of rice is an effective remedy for gastritis. In fact, in some parts of the world people stay away from any other food for a couple of days. The rice gruel can be prepared by putting ¼ cup of rive to 3 cups water.This is cooked in the pressure cooker for a long enough duration to get the rice cooked to almost like a soup. Add a bit of salt and a herb for flavor, say cilantro or coriander leaves or mint and eat it lukewarm with curd.
Yogurt
Yogurt provides an excellent treatment option for gastritis. Its gentle action soothes the lining of the stomach. Low fat yogurt can be taken along with your food or eaten alone.
Vegetables
The vegetables which you feel are soothing for the stomach should be eaten, the other vegetables need to be avoided. Cook them well so that they can be easily digested.Gourds, pumpkin, and squash can be eaten, but stay away from all those vegetables that produce gas i.e. cabbage and cauliflower. Vegetable juices are heavy, so should be taken after cooking them. Peppers, onion, garlic, tomatoes and chilly should be avoided.
Fluids
The liquids make the food soft to get digested fast. Additionally, they clean the gastrointestinal tract. If you are not very sure of purity of water, start taking boiled water. The fruit juices can also be taken if you can tolerate them, you can consider including mild herbal beverages in your diet. Alcohol and caffeinated drinks should be completely avoided.You should drink small quantities of water or the other fluids at a time. Drinking large quantities can bloat the stomach and cause further complications.
Fruits
Fruits are essential in gastritis because they will increase you immunity and contain phytochemicals and anti oxidants. Apples, bananas, peaches, kiwis, pears, grapes and melons are great to treat your gastritis.However, not all fruits are good until you get out of gastritis. The fruits to be avoided are orange, berries, figs, mangoes and all dry fruits. Nuts are loaded with nutrients, but are very heavy to digest.
